TERRIO acute care speech language pathologists (SLPs) assess, diagnose, and treat dysphagia, cognitive-linguistic, speech, voice, and language disorders that may result from a disease, acute event, accident, or an exacerbation of an already existing impairment or disease. Our SLP’s work with patients affected by a variety of neurological events, such as brain damage, stroke, seizure, cancer, or with patients who suffer from chronic diseases or who have experienced a trauma. The SLP team utilizes a variety of clinical examinations, instrumental technology, and standardized assessments to diagnose disorders, including clinical swallow evaluations, videofluoroscopy swallow studies (VFSS), or modified barium swallow studies (MBSS), and fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallow (FEES), in order to generate treatment plans individualized to the patient’s needs. The acute care hospital that the TERRIO SLP’s serve assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients on a variety of units including adult intensive/critical care, stroke/neuro, COVID, cardiac, BURN, pediatric intensive care, neonatal intensive care, and pediatrics.
